Mistborn by EStreet Mistborn by EStreet
Am halfway through the second Mistborn novel by Brandon Sanderson, and I have to say it's the most enjoyable read I've had in years...so much so that I was compelled to do a little fan art, something I don't normally do.

This is Vin, the trilogies main protagonist, practising the 'magic' of allomancy, the ability to utilise different metals in different ways. She is Mistborn, in that she can utilise all the known allomantic metals. If you know the books I hope you'll recognise some of the refernces I've used in this image...Luthadel in the background, the mist, ashfall, the pushing of the coins, the spires and stained glass windows of the Noble keeps, her manner of dress and the mistcloak.

Of all the images I've done recently I'm most pleased with this one...Now onto the Steel Inquisitors....

Adorable, she looks just like she did in my head. (Although I'd imagined the cloak longer)
And I agree, this is by far the best books I've read in a long time.

Thanks, and yeah I agree about the cloak, but a longer, fuller one that I started with spoiled the composition so I changed it.

WOW! That's amazing! Honestly, I don't see too many good Mistborn fanarts (this includes my own), and this is awesome. (And just wait until you get to the end of the third book hehe) :icondayrikuo-la: :iconclapplz: :iconcloudeweplz:

Thanks...and yeah, I got to the third book and am pissed that it's all come to an end and there wont be any more (and I've just finished thwe Alloy of Law and am even more pissed because he wont be writing any more of those any time soon, evem though he's left it open for an obvious sequel) I'm going to miss Vin and Elend...it's been a long time since a book has captured my imagination so much.

Yeah, I love Mistborn. It's my favorite book series. And I read the Alloy of Law, too. He really isn't writing a sequel any time soon? That's too bad. I thought it was pretty good (though I was kinda bummed there weren't any Mistborn in it haha). And, yes, Vin and Elend... :iconcryforeverplz:

I've read somewhere that he's concentrating on writing his Way of Kings opus, and there may actually be 10 volumes of that, which is going to keep him occupied for some time I think...but all that may be wrong!

Wow! I haven't read the Way of Kings, but I've seen the book, and it's HUGE! Yeah, I'm sure that'll take him a while haha :P

Oh that's stunning. I love the Mistcloak. I never could figure out what those were supposed to look like as I read the books. A beautiful Vin.

Thanks...I think the cloak in the book had far more strips, but I couldn't get it to look any good, so went with this.

I am still on the first book, lol. Awesome artwork, so far I think the metal pushing/pulling and enhanced physical abilities are the best mistborn abilities, but I haven't seen em all yet, gotta keep reading.

I have read these and yes I see the resemblence I thought of the cloak as having more cloth to conceal the wearer but this is excellent and I look forward to the spikes in the eyes!

Yeah, I think you're right about the cloak, but when I tried it it just looked too much and concealed a lot of detail and seemed to dominate the scene too much. The Inquisitor may have to wait a while as I've just been approached about a possible commission which may take up my time for a while. Thanks as always for the comments...

I only discovered it by accident myself...big fantasy series are not really my thing (I'm still plodding through Game of Thrones, fantastic though it is), but it gripped from the start, and the characters are so well drawn, and allomancy is such a refreshing idea over the usual magic ideas.

I enjoyed the Mistborn trilogy a lot, and I don't usually like epic fantasy books.

I visualized Vin younger, tho ;)

I've tried to picture her in her late teens, but I guess she probably looks older in this, although in the books her character matures very quickly from street urchin to allomantic assassin

It wasn't meant as a critic. I was just sharing my own experience with the book. There's always a big margin on how each one picture characters when reading books. I often picture characters before the writer describes them and I'm unable to change my first visualization afterwards :)

Sorry if my reply sounded harsh...didn't mean to. I actually picture her younger looking myself, especially in the early phases of the first book, but at the beginning of the second book she seems so much more mature and self assured. Thanks for the comments...

Finished reading that a couple of months ago. Nice work especially on the cloak & I do remember she preferred going barefooted. :D

I think you hit the nail on the head! Great image of a great set of books, I read the series to fill the gap between books 4-5 of Game of Thrones.
Love your work!
