Hi everyone. Not really done this journal thing before, but I wanted to thank all those who have kindly posted comments on my recent work, it really means a lot to me. Also, I have some news I'd like to share, in that (and God only know's how) I've had a couple of pieces I submitted to Ballistic Publishing accepted for inclusion in the upcoming Expose10. To say I'm happy would be the understatement of the year...never thought my stuff would be good enough to be included. So next time round, and they ask for submissions for Expose11, do it, you got nothing to lose. I hesitated for weeks before submitting some stuff.

I've also been approached about another commission for Sunmesa Events and Wizards of the Coast, which I'm working on at the moment. Some may know that I was approached after getting a DD for one of my pieces (Assassin's Luck) and after changing the original about a bit ended up with 'The Hunt' which was used on a playmat for the WOTC Grand Prix at Anaheim, one of which sits proudly on my desk right now.

So there you go...ten years or so doing this stuff as a hobby (albeit a passionate one) things are looking up. Small steps at the moment, but in the right direction.

Thanks,

Ian

Hey Ian,

Noticed you said you had shelved a graphic novel you were working on. I know how much work and effort it can be to get a project done. Would you consider repurposing some of your work and joining us in creating a game?

Hi Damien,

Thank you for considering me. I've had a look at your site and it all sounds very interesting. The artwork you've used is exceptional and beyond my meagre abilities. I was wondering what exactly you may need?

I disagree. A number of your images caught my eye. Yes, I'm aware you use Poser and pre-modeled elements in your work, but don't sell yourself short. Some of the images you've created are eye-catching. Poser doesn't automatically give you layout, composition, and balance in your image - that's coming from you.

What I think caught my eye as well is that you seem inspired by Frank Herbert with a little William Gibson thrown in, which is right up my alley, though I tend to stray into Ray Bradbury's poetic, squeaky clean science-fiction a bit as well.

The images that caught my eye - Shai-Hulud, Guardian, Rise of the New Order, and The Astrogator.

Would you be interested in taking a look at our design direction and doing a few renders for us? I meant to include my email so we could chat in private - damien@playnovus.com
